Spasiba is roughly what “thank you” sounds like in Russian. In Cyrillic it reads “Спасибо” but I have yet to figure out how to pronounce a word with a 6 in it.

Ten minutes ago, I took off on a Lufthansa flight from San Francisco for Moscow. I’m flying courtesy of Porsche North America on my way to cover their factory entries in the TransSyberia 2008 Rally for SPEEDtv.com. For the first five days, I’m hanging out in Moscow watching the team and drivers prepare for the 4350 mile rally race. Along with three other journalists, I’ll attend the pre-race tech inspection, a Red Square photo-shoot and watch the first stage from a helicopter. Team USA are the defending champions and there is a lot of bragging rights on the line here. This is one of the last great adventure races in the world …
