My confidence in the car has grown exponentially in the past few races. I think I spent my first few weekends just trying not to hit anyone nor make myself look like the total rookie I am. The last few weekends, I’ve really felt comfortable and confident in the car; during starts, close racing and passing.
Buttonwillow (CW, Config #13) is always a fun place because the SoCal and NorCal guys all meet to have a big field and close racing. Although I was the only car in my class (A5), it didn’t stop the weekend from being a blast. The following were memorable events:
- Taking the outside into T2 and passing multiple cars in starts
- Holding my line and finding room to pass with less than a foot between cars at full throttle
- Blowing a turn-in on the final corner and finding myself 50′ in the dirt at 80+mph without freaking out
- Learning some car conservation and my first in-race left foot braking
I have a breather until November but things get crazy then:
- 10/31-11/1, Instructing at Sears Point with BMWCCA
- 11/7-9, Racing at Laguna Seca with BMWCCA
- 11/15-16, Racing at Buttonwillow with NABR
- 11/22-23, Instructing at Laguna Seca with BMWCCA
- 12/5-6, 25 hour enduro race at Thunderhill with NASA
- 12/12-14, Racing at Thunderhill with BMWCCA
