Lance Armstrong and the USPS cycling team were in town yesterday for the 3rd annual San Francisco Gran Prix. It’s the last event on the pro tour before the world championships and features a gruelling tour of San Francisco including a climb up Fillmore street at something like a 30 degree incline.
Thanks to long-time buddy Steve Tam of Visenka, I had the opportunity to hop in one of the Saturn support vehicles and follow the peloton around the 10-mile course for a lap. It was really awesome to see the fans stacked all the way around the course cheering even the support vehicles on while we bombed through the streets of San Francisco at upwards of 60mph without care for red lights or stop signs. I took a lot of pictures that I’ll post shortly to give an idea of the course from a rider’s perspective.
Today is also my mom’s birthday, Hi Mom!
